The University’s buildings

The University has two buildings used for educational purposes:

- József körút 27. (the departments and deposit libraries),

epulet11.jpg (8334 bytes)- Bérkocsis utca 2., a newly expanded and renovated building. The seminar rooms and lecture halls are here, as well as the computer center, language lab, language lectorate, methodological cabinet and Center for Jewish Liturgical Music.

Bálint House does not belong to the university but is practically a filial.
Organically connected to the building in Bérkocsis utca is the synagogue which is Europe’s most succesfully restored synagogue, with a world-renowned Torah collection and up-to-date equipment.

Taking possession of the new University building – renovated with foreign financial support, with modern furnishings, equipment and art displays – has alleviated the problems we faced earlier because of the straitened infrastructure.

We renovated the new building completely and in such a way that, with the statical restructuring of the roof it is now possible to provide departments to be founded in the future with architectural space in the same building. The continual rehabilitation of the basement area will make room for the installation of further workshops and the widening of the range of sporting activities.

Occupying the new building we have a clearer view of further demands arising from the university’s operation. We aim to satisfy these demands in the following manner: by purchasing the tenements of József körút 27. more space will become available for individual research, institutes and the expansion of the dormitory.

We plan a complete renovation of the dining hall in the near future, installing modern equipment and creating a high-quality and cost-effective eating space.
